Getting Started With WordPress

September 2, 2009

To start your website with blog powered by WordPress you will need to have WordPress installed on your own hosting account.  There are three steps to get WordPress up and running.

1. Buy a Domain Name

Your website will need a name like www.mysite.com.  If you already have your name purchased and ready to go you can move onto step two.  You may purchase your domain name here with Sustainable Domains.

2. Install WordPress.org

You can install WordPress two ways

1. Free: Go to WordPress.org and download and install WordPress on your hosting account.  This is not advised for someone with little or no experience in web servers and MySQL settings.  If you don’t know what this means see option two.

2. Fee: Sign-up for hosting with Sustainable Websites and purchase WordPress Pie.  WordPress Pie will take care of all the installation issues for you, and you will receive a 1/2 hour call with a technology coach to answer your getting started questions

3. Ready, Fire Aim

So now WordPress is installed and you are staring at an empty site with a Hello World.  Now what?  Your next step is to ask me your questions on our free Teleseminar: 5 Most Common Mistakes Entrepreneurs Make With WordPress to ensure you get started on the right foot.  Join by placing your name and email address in the box below to access Hello World resources page and the Teleseminar.  You will discover two more free resources waiting for you after you’ve joined.
